The search of perpetual energy has been around for hundred of years but the most inspiring research was done by Nikola Tesla. His ambition was to harvest energy from the surrounding environment such as lightning, radio waves, wind, solar energy, mechanical motion (piezo), temperature etc. Until today the search still goes on and the technology that evolve around it has improved significantly and efficiently.
Including NASA is involve in this project in order to power equipment without battery but from the energy from the surrounding space environment and the device power will last forever as long as it is not faulty. In fact not long from now probably in the next few years we will have small electronic devices such as watches, remote control, calculator no longer needs batteries.
