Simple Voltage Control Oscillator (VCO) - Frequency Synthesizer CD4046

A simple voltage control oscillator (frequency synthesizer) circuit using CD4046 IC. The input voltage is controlled by 1 KOhm potentiometer connect to the 5 volt input. So by applying more voltage to the input resulting in high frequency sound otherwise low voltage input then lower frequency sound.

The power source not necessarily 5 volt USB - it can be batteries whichever most convenient for you.

The amplifier circuit please refer to: How to make homemade DIY guitar amplifier run on 5 Volt USB

  1. Hello,
I have found this article really helpful.
    Can I use a 10uF capacitor instead of 10nF ?

    Thanks.

    1. 10uF is too big capacitance the vco will be slower and the sound will be low pitch
