Simple RF Mobile Signal Detector Schematic Diagram Circuit to detect VHF/UHF 4G LTE

Very cool RF mobile signal detector from simpletronic - the circuit is main driven by high frequency RF transistor up to 6 Ghz maximum. It can easily detect low frequency and high frequency electromagnetic and RF signal. In this demonstration using a smart mobile phone using 4G LTE (2600 Mhz / 2.5 Ghz Frequency) and when the internet is running the signal will be captured as a result the LED lights up. Another test is done on an antenna that transmitting 20 Mhz signal and it lights up brightly because the power used is 5 Volt to amplify the 4G modem.

Component of the mobile signal detector circuit

100 Ohm, 10 KOhm, 47 KOhm - Resistors
10 KOhm - Variable Resistor
BFG591 (UHF 6 Ghz Frequency RF Transistor)
Blue LED
10 pF - Ceramic Capacitor
10 Cm - Antenna
CR2032 (3 Volt) Battery

    1. In standby mode the signal is very low because the transmission is almost minimal...only when the phone in use either calling or using internet data it will show LED blip

    1. Yes possible since this is wideband detector..it can detect signal including radio signal if it is very strong - you can adjust the sensitivity of the circuit using potentiometer

  4. crystal oscillator frequency - 12 mhz resonator (frequency generator)

rf frequency signal also can be generated with crystal. Despite of its fixed frequency the crystal oscillator is very precise in its frequency output. This is an example of 12 Mhz crystal oscillator powered by transistor BC547. Generate exactly 12 mhz frequency.

There are also variation of crystal oscillator frequency with variants extend from hertz to megahertz range. With today's technology there is also crystal oscillator frequency up to gigahertz range.

A crystal oscillator is an electronic oscillator circuit that uses the mechanical resonance of a vibrating crystal of piezoelectric material to create an electrical signal with a precise frequency.

  6. Can u please explain how this works?

    1. Actually it's very simple --- when the phone receive 4G signal from internet, calling or sms, etc. Then the circuit will receive it and amplify the signal through the RF transistors.

The result of the amplification is then shown on the glowing led. The stronger the signal the brighter the led otherwise deemer.

The variable resistor VR1 in the circuit diagram (potentiometer) control how much current should go in so that the led can glow if too much current the led will glow constantly even if there is no signal. Therefore you have to adjust to the point it only receive minimal current from the battery and when it added with the detected signal the LED will glow

  10. Hi, may i know is your schematic diagram is applicable by using breadboard? because i cant where your connections are going to positive or negative

    1. Positive denoted by the plus sign while the negative is the thick black bar (that's symbol for battery).

On breadboard make sure you make very stable connection..don't allow the wires/cables to wiggle easily because the signal requires stable precision
