Sony Ericsson medium end mobile phones are prone to keypad spoilage. Most often the key pad just come off after using for a couple of years. I have these model W660i and W700i both having the same problem where the keys come off and it needs to be replaced with new keypad.
The problem sometimes the casing is quite difficult to open as the assembly clips are tights and you may need to have at least hard thumbnail in order to open the casing successfully. If you have soft and short thumbnail the job can be a little more difficult but still possible. In this case i am going to show you how to open the Sony Ericsson W660i casing and remove the Keypad.
Tool You Need:
1. T3 Torx Screwdriver
2. Hard thumbnail
How to do it:
1. Slide down the battery cover to open it
2. Use your thumbnail and slip it in the gap to open the remaining back cover (Be careful not to break it)
3. Using the T3 Torque screwdriver remove the 4 front cover screws
4. Use your thumbnail again slip in between the gap and go around it to open the front cover
5. Now remove the keypad
Note: Sony Ericsson W660i back and front cover is fairly fragile, so you need to be careful when taking it off from the clips to avoid breakage.
