Get 12 Volts out of 5 Volt computer USB port

If you are running out of idea where to get 12 Volt source of battery to power your mini project - never look too far or thinking of buying expensive 12 Volt battery. There is 5 Volt USB port on your PC or laptops or maybe power bank. There are also AA batteries, 18650 batteries, etc that you can boost step up the voltage up to 12 volt. The circuit is using the LM2577 step up DC to DC boost. The circuit is quite simple yet it provides good enough power to use in small electronic projects. The circuit diagram came from Texas Instrument datasheet which states that it can output current as much as 800 mA which is quite powerful. Most small electronic project is enough to run on those small amp.

  1. Hi... First of all, thanks for your video and diagram... I need 14.4V and 800 mAh output... Can you help me, telling me what do I need to change in your schema, please?

  2. You could actually step up to 15 volt using the same circuit if you use variable resistor to control the output...but the only problem is the current output won't be 800 mA...because it uses current to get that much.

Especially if you are using 5 volt is too small of a current to generate 15 volt with quite a lot of amp
