Hands-On experience review - Canon Powershot SX50 HS Photo Samples

Overview and Specialty

Despite of it designs resembled the DSLR camera the Canon Powershot SX50 HS is actually just a digital camera. However it has a special zooming capability feature that no other cameras have with similar kind. It can take clear pictures and videos from hundreds of meters away and literally up to the surface of the moon. See the pictures below. So be very careful if you see someone or your neighbors aim this camera at you as they can see clearly what you wear from afar.

Preset Modes

Similar to other Canon digital cam the Powershot SX50 HS comes with multiple preset function and each of them can be adjusted to suit the condition and objects to shoot. In older version of the Canon Ixus digital camera those preset functions were not perform very well compare to the Powershot. For example under the right lighting conditions using the sport preset function of the SX50 HS takes a very good pictures that is somewhat comparable with what the DSLR camera can do, where the Canon Ixus can’t do it.

Video Capability

The video shooting capability ranges from Standard (640 x 480), HD (1280 x 720), and Full HD (1920 x 1080). Although I have not tried to use the video recording extensively, based on some reviews the video recording outputs is not as good as you will expect but it does produced pretty decent video for a camera like this.

Battery

One problem that I don’t really like is the fact that it uses the squared 7.4v == 920mAh 6.8Wh (Li-ion) battery, where it can’t be recharge without power outlets available especially during travelling. The cost to purchase extra battery would be very pricey. How nice if it is using normal double A battery, where it is widely available and much portable to bring spares during travelling.
